Captured this image at Rocky Mountain National Park a couple of weeks ago near Milner Pass. Their antlers are growing pretty fast! Thanks for looking.

Canon 1D Mark2
500mm f/4L
1/160 f/4
ISO 320
metering at zero

Darkened the foreground and the right side of the elk just a little.

Dan - that is an impressive rack and a striking pose. He looks like he's ready to come at you. I like the background trees and the flecks of yellow in the grass as well.

Nice and sharp Dan, and I like the off kilter pose and direct eye contact.

Great detail and I'm really liking this low profile, head on view. Also like the different shades of green throughout.

Very impressive antlers. I know nothing about these animals but it looks like he is about to moult (is that what it's called?) as the right mid sized tine (?) looks like it is losing velvet. Doesn't effect the photo, just makes it even more interesting.

I really like the way he is balanced on the side of the slope and the expression on his face. TFS.

The sloping ground and stance makes the image, a good rack too. Good separation between the subject & the BG, works for me.

You got it nicely separated from the BG with very good eye contact. Impressive animal very well captured.
