Caught him just before taking an uncharacteristic dive, tern-style for lunch. He missed.

Canon 7D, 500L, 1.4tx
F/5.6, 1/1600, ISO 200, 0EV
Minor shadow removal

C&C appreciated

Richard:

Very interesting pose for a OC. Feet down a plus. Well exposed.

I find the framing too tight and would like some more canvas to the right and below.

The color of legs and bill look a bit oversaturated to me.

Again, very fun pose!

Looking forward to more.

Cheers

Hi Richard Just a little tight as mentioned but lots of detail and very sharp !!! Like the unusual pose and clearly visible eye !! Mighty fine image !!!

Randy: It is a Black Skimmer not an OC.

Richard: Good exp, nice action and i don't mind the tight crop especially as it is going down and not into the frame. V. good catch-light.

A bit tight but a very fine image none the same. Great action captured.

Terrific detail and sharpness, light worked in your favor here. I like the unusual pose and colors.

Really nice pose, Rich. I like the motion blur in the back foot, keeps the image from feeling static.

Took a bit of work to extend the canvas, but here is the result. Next time out I'm going to try losing the 1.4x on the 500 so I'm not so much in the skimmer's face.

Only changes made to image are now - extended right & bottom canvas, slight shadows removal to lighten surf at top of image. Saturation was unchanged from RAW.

Richard:
To my eye the repost is a significant boost to the already nice original.
