Hi Peter, This image works for me. Love the detail in the sand, soft lighting with the rim acting as a LL. The clouds are minimalized and add tension.
Not sure why you shot this at F8 due to some of the rim being soft.(might also be due to blowing sand) Speaking for myself I would generally shoot landscapes at minimum of F16.

Hi Peter,

I like the color of the dunes with the great skies behind it, If you had never seen dunes this would show you the trueness of them, we go out on sand rail on dunes and have a wonderful time.. Thanks for showing , I love the dunes at Thanksgiving time, I can take the heat then but not in the summer..

Peter, this is a beautifully rich depiction of the dunes and works very well. Love the depth of colour in both the sky and the sand. Has a feeling of scale to it.

Hey Peter,
I like the way you brought out the FG textures more in this version! Nice lines with the contrast of the storm clouds handled very nicely. Agree with Dave on pushing your camera next time out.....but this one works very well as presented! Very nicely done!

Thanks for comments everybody...

Dave, shot at f8 as I had no tripod with me, also have to admit the 50mm lens is not a great lens and find that results at th smaller aperture are hit and miss...

Proud of this image as it got to the final stages of BBC/veiola wild places catergory ...but it was the other older version which have to admit was a bit over processed ....reckon that let me down :(

thanks again

peter

Gorgeous colors. Almost looks surreal!
