After a few minutes of just lying there (see http://www.birdphotographers.net/forums/showthread.php?t=67344), the rajah of this part of the jungle heard a noise through the trees, and got up to see who dared to disturb his nap. It turned out to be one of the forest rangers on another elephant. This bored Bokkah who, now seeing two elephants, decided to go behind the hill that the elephants would have a difficult time climbing. I thanked him in my thoughts for the wonderful photo op, and asked the mahout to take me back to where my jeep driver was waiting. January, 2008.
Nikon D200, 70-200/2.8 @ 140mm, f/4, ISO400, manual exposure to tame back lighting, some postprocessing in CaptureNX to reduce the glare and improve focus/saturation.
