Yellow-billed Cuckoo
Upper Texas Coast
D2X, 600, ISO 250, f8 @ 1/650, -0.3 EV
I don't believe I have seen a head shot of a Cuckoo before. This guy landed at my water drip while I was setup for small Warblers, so I could only get the head and shoulders in the frame. Lucky for me this species likes to stay still for a while, so I was able to take a number of shots of each part of the bird and perch, and then merge them together in Photoshop, giving me a full body image at amost 6.5K pixels long.
