One of my few landscape trials and I would like your expert inputs.

Hi Thomas, Well, heres my opinion.......Beautiful! Excellent play on light which has the lit opening becoming the center of interest. The dark foreground frames the bottom while still seeing detail and the pano crop is effective
Another idea is to crop the right a little before the first dominant tree on the right.
This image is a good example how a very simple subject, with the right lighting, can be dramatic and command alot of interest.
Well handled Thomas...

Thanks,Dave!
Very good suggestion of cropping,I haven't thought of that.
Nice with expert opinions,it broadens your horizon.

Hey Thomas,
I think you should take up landscapes!!! This is fantastic! Landscapes are all about the light....the light....the light! You have outstanding light and a great balance of everything else compositionallly in this pano crop. I can see Dave's point on the crop, but I would leave this as is. Great job!!!

Thanks,Roman!
I cheated a little in my analog years with landscape, but have always loved macro and flowers
the most. But it's fun to do something different and it makes you think from another perspective.
I agree,Roman, the light is 99% of an image!
Thanks again for your encouragement!

Hi Tom....I was wondering if you would mind if I used your image in a photography class i teach in adult ed. I think it is a great example of simple subject enhanced by light. If not...I understand completely but i felt i had to ask!

Bob,you can use it if you want.I'm honored that you think it's suits for an example.

Thomas,

I was trying different interpretations of your image last night and decided to post one. Again, just one persons interpretation - not better or worst just different. In the thread below, I show what I did.

I prefer the original, as the lighting is more dramatic, and more closely matches my conception of the transition from dark to light often seen in wooded areas.

I prefer the OP too......but will admit I even thought about going Robert's direction myself! Just gives you some more possible ideas to explore.

Hi Tom...I vote for Robert's interpretation....seems more balanced somehow!
And thanks for the OK on using your image. I will of course give you a credit in my presentation. Thanks Again!

very nice shot! agree with the others that the light here makes it. I slightly prefer your original post due to its darker shadows

Thanks for all inputs!
Robert,I like your version too,but I think the original looks more dynamic.
It's hard to see in this web-size,but the original RAW-file shows how good
my little Limited 35mm is with details in the shadows, even the darkest ones.

I don't feel qualified to critique Thomas other than to say that I love your image - Simple, dramatic, and unique...and yes, I like your version the best.

Thanks,Buddy!
Of course you're qualified.Everybody is,it's the different levels of experience
that makes the inputs so varied and intresting. It's a matter of taste in the end,
regardless how long you've been active as a photographer.

Love the glow in the image. Lovely light as said by many above. Personally, I liked the original post too.
Very well seen and captured.
