Brown Thornbill (Acanthiza pusilla) Kilaben Bay NSW
Canon EOS 40D Lens 100-400mm L IS USM at 380mm ISO 640 5.6 1/2000 available light 20 June 2010
This turned out to be a one shot wonder as it was the only opportunity I got to take an image. The Brown Thornbill is small at 10cm but is a delightful quick moving bird which adopts attractive poses. Birds in Backyards feature this species at:
http://birdsinbackyards.net/species/Acanthiza-pusilla (http://birdsinbackyards.net/species/Acanthiza-pusilla)
and again Fred van Gessel has provided a MP3 sound clip that will give you an excellent if short impression of the call. Australia has 12 species of thornbills an interesting small bird group.
Thanks for viewing
Best regards

Rod, This looks like it has a spotlight effect. Nice pose and lovely color in the BG. It seems a bit centered to me. Sharp details.

Great head angle and mood. Wish you back up on the sharpening a bit and thanks for the interesting read.

Eye contact, pose and angle look very good and I also find the unusually-lit BG attractive. The sharpening looks good on the body but there are some 'jaggies' on the tail feathers.
