Another one from Longwood Gardens. There were a good many of this type and some with very bright colors. I liked this for it's simplicity.

Nice comp. Excellent details & textures in white petals. Just the necessary DOF IMO.
TFS.

Hi Dave, nice composition with the frame filling flower. It's odd that much of the flower seems to be in shadow given the flash you used.

Now THAT's how you do whites! PERFECTION, Dave! Love the solid BG and the speckles at the base of the pistil and stamen. It's those whites that are blowing me away, though. Look at all that detail and the different shades and shadows - it feels like I could reach out and touch it. Really outstanding!

Like the comp and detail Dave. I am just curious as to how you figured out how to use +1/3 for the twin lights.

Hi Jackie, Not much in technicals. It looked a bit dark on my screen and felt it needed a boost. I use a 200 macro which moves me away from the subject and this being a big lily also. Just felt I should tweak the amount of light. Normally on a shot like this I have enough light..

Love the composition and the red trim around the petals. Very nice.

What a gorgeous lily! Love the red along the edges. Pleasing composition and colors. I like how the flash causes the BG to go dark, while the flower looks perfectily lighted.

Beautifully lit and exposed and I love the contrasting colours, you have a dark background and I think it works in this shot.
