Taken mid afternoon on one of the most northerly points of the UK, Hermaness on the island of Unst. On the very craggy & eroded cliff top you look down at thousands of Gannets making their nests, the pungent aroma certainly clears your nose. The view point is looking down believe it or not, this one popped his/her head up just at the right time, with the inky blue sea as the back drop.

Outstanding image, Steve.

The fine detail and the delicate colours really make this one a work of art. :)

It's good to spread our wings occasionally. I have a lot to learn with this subject. ;)

Bill you are too kind. Hopefully might get some tips on how to improve it too.;)

The only thing I could suggest as far as improvements, Steve, is to reduce what appears to me as blown highlights in the far lower right whites, at the bird's shoulder.

I didn't mention it in my first post, as I thought it was very minor. :)

Steve:

Nicely exposed, sharp where it counts, great head angle, soft light.
My first thought was that it could go about 1/3 stop brighter, but the current exposure gives the image a slightly subdued, somber feel which is good. I suspect the reality between the noise and smell was somewhat different:D

Cheers

Thanks guys, the perspective is misleading as I am leaning about 75 degrees down!!!! For someone who doesn't like heights I was rather quiet at the time. Makes a change. :D

Bill fire away, any feedback good or bad is what I have only asked for in any posting I make. The white is just holding at at A3 size (approx 12" x 16") it's OK, but appreciate the feedback. ;)

Steve, good pose, exposure and detail, and just love the colours on the head. Stands out very well against the darker sea BG.
