After thorough investigation, we have ascertained that some APO 50-500mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM, APO 120-400mm F4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM and APO 150-500mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM lenses, produced recently, may have a potential autofocus defect.

I'd look into that if you recently bought one of these.

Just to add here for what it's worth. I have owned 2 Sigma tele lenses in the past and both fell apart in some fashion well before their time IMO!

I think those lenses perform well as far as image quality but fall short on lasting, also when is time to trade in you won't get much for them which is a point in considering when making the initial decision !!

After owning 4 different (replaced by repair dept for faulty focus) 50-500 Sigma Lenses, which I traded for a 70-200 macro by Sigma..losing lots of cash in the process...now they decide there's a problem with the lenses..:(

This is from http://www.lensrentals.com/

It is an older article but still worth a read.
Just looking quickly they still are renting several Sigma lenses.

I sent my lens 50-500 into sigma in NY for repair, was told today they are waiting for parts from Japan and I should have my lens in 2 weeks.
BTW a lot of auto focus sigma lenses are now on backorder
