I had fun today working on different extrude types and sizes. This started out with an extrude filter (forgot to write this one down, sorry) and then I used a glass filter with tiny lenses and brightened it up with Topaz Adjust>Painting Venice. I tried to mask the eye back in but it looked worse that way so I left it the way it was. These are fun:)

Thanks for looking. Comments and suggestions appreciated.

I like the texture that you have created (this looks like a thick carpet). The colors are great - the gradation is nicely visible/done.
I might take a bit off the top (but I am not known for my crop ability:o)

Cheryl, This reminds me of a hook rug. Really cool effect you created w/ the extrude filter. I also agree w/ Deb regarding a crop off the top. Colors are great!

Chery,

I like your subtle use of the extrude filter. Love the bright colors.

This one I absolutely love. What a look. I would just lighten the area around the eye a bit. Best of all I love the head angle.

first look, I said, wow, a rug! Good work. I think leaving the eye alone is fine--gives it part of the "rug" look and besides, the eye is a focal point. good contact there.

Great colours with the bird and the BG Cheryl. Think a crop off the top would improve it.

Cheryl, Wonderful colors and great subject !
Very pleasing effect here. I think I'd like to see the eye a bit sharper, as a focus

Cheers -

Hey Cheryl,
Reminds me of stippling! I think the color contrasts are fantastic and I also agree on the crop ...will focus even more attention on the face! Very nice use of the effect!

Cheryl, this is awesome work! Before I scrolled down to the comments I immediately thought of a hooked rug. Love the bold colors and texture that you achieved. Would love to see this hanging on my wall!

Thank you all for your kind words. Here's a repost with the crop and a lighter eye per Artie:)

Like the crop but still like the eye darker as focal point (color gradations great) - personal preference.
However, both are really nicely done and either one deserves to win the theme contest.
