It's images like this, that have me hooked on macro photography...

I lay down in the path of this beetle and kept firing until he passed me.
Its not hard to see how these guys got the name Tiger, they have some serious hardware.
What fierceness this guy projects..wouldn't want to meet up with him, if I was his size.
This image is a fairly large crop, so fairly noisy.

Paul, I'm amazed you got anything in focus at all. These things are super fast! I can see it does suffer from the big crop but you should still be proud that you got a shot like this. The light stick or whatever it is behind the bug is a bit distracting. Also, I think lightening the left side of the bug so more detail could be seen would really help this.

Hey Paul, I'd hate to be this guys prey, very scary looking. Love the details and body colors are great.

Holy crap, he's scary! I don't know as if I'd put myself in his path with those big vice grip claws of his.

I would clone out the stick that's cutting through him and the bit of grass along the left side of the frame. I like the idea of lightening up the left side of his body a little as well. Man, if I have nightmares tonight I am so coming back here to give you heck!

Impressive critter with great color. I also find the white sticks distracting, just take time and patience to clean it up. TFS, Paul.

Nice catch Paul!...I have given up trying to catch these bugs as they are too fast for me. Really like the repost and love how you show what their jaws look like - I have never seen that perspective before.

Very nasty looking set of jaws.

Clean up looks very well done.

I like the dof.

Hey Paul,
Great job with the angle and perspective! Eviction of BG stuff was way to go....even tempted to go further if you are OK with such things. Very nicely composed!
