This one didn't move that much, so I had a chance to take some pictures. What do you think about it?

Thijs, a slight movement on your part to the right and the butterfly might have been all inclusive on the focal plane of the lens, leaving the back end of the wings in focus as crisply as the head/eye area. You managed to get the most important area in focus and the BG is lovely - just move a bit so those wings aren't so angled AT you but NEXT to you and you'll have it crisp from head to toe. ;)

Nicely captured butterfly, Julie had some good points.

Hey Thijs, good point by Jules, just a slight adjustment on the camera position and you nail the details through out. Good light and BG and as Jules points out you got the focus on the most important part the head and eye.

Great critique by Jules, I like the very clean BG and colors.

great focus where it needs to be...agree with a slightly different camera angle if it would not put the thorax behind the plant.

Thijs, the front of this 'fly looks fantastic! I think that since this one was holding still and you were using a tripod and a remote, a smaller aperture would have worked to get a better DOF. Moving to the right might have helped but I think I would have probably moved a fraction up and to the left to get a better looking angle. Some selective sharpening on the perch, the wings and the back antenna could help.

Very nice color and pose here!
Good suggestions already for an even better image.

Hey Thijs,
Can't add much as the angle has been covered. Since it was quite still, hope you got to cover more of the angles as the light and BG look great!

Thanks for the comments!

I took another one with f13, the wings are a bit sharper here, what do you think about it?
