Photographed this little guy yesterday morning. Grebes don't have a very strong wing flap--more of a shake.

I like the pose, angle and water colors. I might raise the color temperature a tad.

Nice to get close to one of these. I like it, especially all the water and fluff flying around.

I played with the eye just a touch. What do you think?

Hi Jim, looks good to me! I had it pretty dark and then backed off--but yours looks best!

Nice pose, and we can see how far back on the body the legs are. A species I have never seen from less than 200 yards away...

love watching little grebes do this shake Bonnie, and you show
it well here....I mean, that grebe is just hovering right over the water. Splendid reflection colors.

Wonder is sharpening the little splash droplets would add any at all?

Daniel, I find it so interesting that across the continent (as in our case) there is so much variety in the availability of different species, and how tame they are.
Horned Grebes are a dime a dozen here in the Pacific Northwest. If you are patient they will start to come in closer, especially around the marinas, although this one here was actually taken on an open bay.

I think the warmer color is really the way to go....
can really see the green coolness in the first one now(but it is cool there....right? :) )

but either still works well

was that a great bit of help from me or what??

Lovely capture Bonnie and your re-post boosts it up a notch. You're having quite a run on waterfowl close-ups. Keep them coming.
