My D300 is back at Nikon and I went out for a ride at lunch time sort of lamenting that my appendage was at the Nikon hospital.

I had mounted my wifes D80 on my new 500 VR just in case I came across something and on this rather cloudy, dreary day...look what I found :)

I had to save this at a quality of 37, so it suffers from that.

Handheld, Nikon D80, 500 AFSVR, TC14EII, ISO 320, f 7.1, center weighted metering with -.07 EV compensation applied.

Hi Jim,

This is very nice. The yes close tells a lot about this owl. I like the contrast between the owl and the tree. Excellent capture.

Sorry to hear your camera already needs a repair. This owl certainly is a red morph. It seems to have a slight blue cast.

I'd say it almost looks too saturated, but I've never seen a red morph Screech Owl so I can't really tell ;-) I must say it does look good against the grayish tree. What a cool looking cavity it chose!!
