Small Fly

This is about a 50% crop. I have another with a bit more profile, and it did not stand up as well to the cropping.
50D, 100mm f/2.8 macro, 1/50, f/8, ISO800, tripod. I can't remember if I had any extension tubes on.

Thanks a lot. The little fellow was quite patient with me moving around.

NR in CS4, or at least my setting of it, did not get rid of noise in top left and I let the sharpening run through under the in focus leaf so perhaps a bit of noise there as well.

Dave, try a little surface or box blur on the BG and mask the leaf/fly back in. Sometimes that helps!

Excellent comp - might take a bit off the right side to move the fly closer to the ROT's but that's totally up to you. I also like it as presented. This is one of those cases where the negative space really shows proportion! Love the edge of the leaf leading to the fly and yes, the head tilt is a big bonus!

Maybe I would've desaturated the magentacast on the fly.
Otherwise a very suiting comp and BG.
