D2xs 600 mm lens ..wimberely and gitzo tripod....small crop ..minor work...double catchlight doesnt bother me too much

Gorgeous lighting and nicely framed image Peter. This could be very nive as a vertical too Peter and perhaps having the kingfisher just a tad higher in the frame. Lovely capture and thanks for sharing.

I think the angle at which you captured this kf and the light works very well. I have to agree on the comp though.

Another vote for vertical, Peter, specially there's nothing too interesting in the negative space. The branch shooting our of his head is a bit distracting.

I could take it either as a vertical or horizontal, but I'd like to see some added back to the bottom and some off the top.
Beautiful deep colors and wonderful light for sure. I love the saturation here.

Hey Peter,
IMO if you get rid of the yellow/white OOF grass coming out his head that's all you need to do as I like the horizontal version. Beautiful colors and light on this one,
