I like the high-key idea and look-back pose. Does it need a bit CW rotation?

Jeff,
What is the species?
I like the high-key look. I might suggest the high-key BG combined with a toned down version of the bird would be an alternate interpretation worth investigating.

Jeff:
Good advice above from Axel and Robert. I think it does need the CW rotation, and the bird itself toned down a bit. Just pushing the recovery slider to the right in ACR seemed to help to give the bird some more substance. I might be tempted to crop up a bit from the bottom to improve the composition. It is a bit hard to judge the frame edges, its so light:)
Cheers

Good idea Jeff, I like it and the suggestions.
I am no expert but I thought it was a female Wood Duck.

Thanks Dave - I could not ID the species. I agree with Axel's CW turn and loved the simplicity of the image.
