Congratulations Ajit Huilgol
Striped keelback

The striped keelback is a slender-bodied, non-venomous snake found throughout India. Frequents rice fields, ponds, bushes and gardens. It is very gentle snake and easy to handle. Found this small guy (about 1 foot in length) inside a resort. Had to lie down on the grass and managed to keep the eye in focus.
Species: Striped keelback (Amphiesma stolatum)
Location: Jungle Lodges Resort, Kabini, Karnataka, India
Date: April 2010
Equip: Canon 50D, Canon 70-200 at 160
Specs: ISO 400, f8, 1/320s, hand-held

Thank you for taking the time out to look, and for your comments/critiques

Must be pretty harmless as you were quite close. Not may favourite animal, but great image and nice BG to show off the snake.
