Took this at Longwood Gardens yesterday. Burned myself pretty good laying down on the 90 degree concrete but was able to get over 80 images of this pair. Hand held so some were soft due to the leaf blowing in the wind.....others had DOF falloff.....even at f32!!! More than a quarter tack! Got even lower for a few....so I have wind reflection in the water.....still recovering from the scalding!
Canon 1D Mark lll hand held, manually focused with the Sigma 180mm macro at f32 for 1/160 sec and ISO 640 with the MT24 twin lights at plus 2 & 2/3.....not a typo.....used flash as main light. Saved at 67 quality to fit!

I like the leaf but the biggest problem I see is that the dflies are almost the same color as that leaf so there isn't enough separation. The shadows under the bugs look fine but the extras from the flash are a bit distracting. But, as a bug geek, I still love the shot. :)

Green Darners seem to be one of the most common subjects when it comes to dragonfly porn. I guess they just don't care who's watching!:D

Nice job Roman. I love the heads and love the colors. Was it worth the 3rd degree burns???

Know what I love the most besides the vivid colors and the sharp focus? The reflection of the wings on the lily pad below them. Fabulous image - totally worth the burn!

Thats dedication, and I love the image! I especially like the flash traces, which add a kind of double image thing, I cant describe it very expertly. This is special, and worth the hardship. Always learning from you, Roman.

Good subjects and action captured. I also find the shadows a bit distracting, also would add more room on top and crop on bottom.
