Found this Sora in a small pond not too far from my house. Comments and critique appreciated.

I like the low angle and the habitat with the Duckweed. Some fill flash would help with the harsh light. I do find the one small dark reed at the top a little distracting.

Great job catching him in the open with nice eye level view!

Wish body/head was angled a bit more toward camera.
Looks like it could use some CW rotation.

Hi Gizzo,

I agree with Allan comments. The angle of capture is pleasing and the display of habitat adds to the image. Fill flash would be the fix in the field. You obviously can redo it perhaps next time. However, some shadow/highligh adjustment to open up the shaded areas might help. In addition to the dark stop Allan mentioned, I find the out of focus reed that interests with the head to be mildly distracting. If your ethics allow these are relative easy edits. To demonstrate I made a quick tried in photoshop. I also did a little adjustments on the eye. I little more time and the original file would produce better results. I'll leave it up to all of you as whether it is an improvement or not.

I am not sure about the rotation. I tried different rotations and wasn't sure any are better than your original post. I think the reeds laying at different angles produces a bit of an optical allusion.

Thanks for sharing.

I like the your second post the best. In my opinion it has a better head angle providing better viewing engagement and background is less distracting.

The first one does have some distracting elements, the head angled away is less than ideal, and it does need CW rotation.

The last image is much, much better and engaging with improvements on all the points above.

**Although we do allow reposts of the same, reworked image within a thread, we do not normally allow a second different image.**;)

P.S. A belated welcome to BPN!!! Looking forward to more from you!
