I really wanted to photograph this species while in S. Texas so I was pretty glad to get this one :)

Taken at Estero Llano Grande park - a really great place for photography.

Hi Glenn,

This is a classic man. Love the composition, details and pose. The nice green BG makes your subject pop! How did you do it?

Thanks for sharing!

Man, the head looks so flat and elongated, I guess I'm too used to seeing the huge head of a Belted Kingfisher. I can't help but think you could add a bit of canvas above.

Wonderful. The only thing I would try to do is lighten up the area around the eye a little. When I move my head up and down while looking at the flat screen LCD monitor, the image improves when things are lighten in this area.

Great bird, BGKR, and way sharp. I'd go for a pano crop to get rid of the tiny vertical branch and improve the balance. Ernie M would surely not want you to clone out that little stick... We had a good discussion at NANPA. later and love, artie

What a nice shot Glenn. I like the clear bg and the head turn :)
Wish the bird to be a bit lowered in the frame.
