Hi,

This is my first post here.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I've been running
a Samsung SyncMaster 204B lcd calibrated by a spyder 2. I never really
liked the results since switching from CRT monitors circa
December 2006. I've since learned that SIPS LCD are much higher
quality, so I bought a Dell 30-inch 3007WFP. We bought these
at work and I was impressed, although they are too contrasty and
saturated out of the box for photography in my opinion, so must
be calibrated.

So at home I bought the 30-inch (2560x1600 pixels- Wow!) with the
intent of using the 19-inch as the primary display and the 30-inch
for photos. I'm driving both with an NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT
video card and XP-pro. I've tried to calibrate with a Spyder3
but the Spyder at first saw both monitors as Samsung 204Bs.
XP saw and managed both monitors correctly.
I then updated all the drivers, and now XP sees the displays
as plug and play (but recognizes the two monitors at their
native resolutions). The new NVIDIA drivers have an extensive interface
and recognizes both monitors correctly. But now the spyder3 software
only sees one monitor, and it appears to be the 19-inch!

I only need to calibrate the 30inch, but can't seem to get the spyder
software to do it. Has anyone else had similar issues, and if so,
did you find a solution? I am working with tech support, but they
haven't found a solution yet.

Well, after going round and round with the Spyder tech support, they
came out with a new version of the spyder software, 3.0.4, and it finally
works with my setup. Everything went fine, and now my 30" monitor is
calibrated. A beautiful difference. And wow do photos look great on such a
large monitor (4.1 megapixels). I'm drooling for an 8-megapixel monitor.
