I set up a new songbird perch in my backyard. Did not expect to see this guy. An unusual perch and pose in comparison to all other shots I've gotten of this species.
Sony A700, 70-400G @400mm, f5.6, 1/400, iso1250, ev +3.0. Perch was in the shade of the morning sun.
Cropped to portrait, darkened and blurred BG, selective levels, curves and sharpen on bird. Cloned highlights on head and beak.

I like the curious look, angle and pose. I find the left side of the fork a bit bright. If this is a setup, you could try to find a branch that adds interest, maybe with small leaves.

I like the look he's giving and the way the perch divides up the frame. I'd also tone down the left perch a bit.

I agree with the other guys on the curious look and pose being very cool Peter. I am not as thrilled with the perch though. Even if your setup was not intended for this guy it is still a little plain Axel is right some leaves might add more interest.
