A red-tailed hawk departs from a tree escaping our view. Cropped into a vertical image, and selective sharpened around the bird. Did a curves adjustment on the right side of the bird to bring out some details. Let me know what you think!

I like the OOF mountains in the background. Sidelight isn't the best in this case, but probably couldn't be helped.

Thanks, if only I could direct the bird hah

Great timing to capture this and I like the eye contact. Also lovely lighting although there is shadow on the left side and tail. If the wings had been on the up stroke you would have had more lighting on the left. I too like the mountains in the BG. One other thing and that is to have a tad more canvas on the right giving him room to fly out.. Many thanks for sharing Peter.

I alo like the mountains in the BG. Is this a big crop? I'm thinking that because of the lack of feather detail. The bird is placed very centered in the frame for my taste, since it's looking at you it could go either way, but judging by the wing position, it may look better placing him left of the frame. TFS.

This is a fairly significant crop. I would be able keep it as originally horizontal to place the bird on the left side, however the bird was actually flying towards the left of the frame.
