Myer, I love the perch here, the only downside is the leaf covering the bird's foot. The pose and eye contact also work very well!

I am wondering about the processing though. The images looks underexposed. The background is noisy. And all of the image looks over sharpened with some artifacts. You may want to consider starting back at the original file and running NR. Then selectively sharpen the bird and leave the background alone. I would also crop a little tighter in portrait orientation to eliminate the dead space on the sides, but keeping the bird to the left.

The crop is a bit tight. Other than that, huge improvement in my opinion- especially in the noise department! Maybe still a bit dark. Perhaps some others can chime in too!

If you mask the bird, perch, and leaves, you can then brighten those elements and leave the background dark to set the subject off a little more dramatically. Nice image!

I kinda liked the original crop :)

The re_posts sure are an improvement, but I'm wondering Myer...was it heavily overcast / low light when you created this? +1 EV should have been more than enough to light this properly and in fact, I would have expected the yellows ro have been over exposed unless it were really gloomy out.

Agree on liking the original post for COMP and on the +1 not making sense for Nikon.... Perhaps Myer darkened the image during conversion.... Killer repost by David. Killer.
