It was windy so I needed a faster SS and the subject was relatively flat so I thought I could use a larger aperture than normal. It almost worked. Just the tips of the wings appear to be OOF.

I like the square crop. Nice details and perch. BG works well.

Beautiful sharp details and I like seeing the topside view. Colors are really neat! I might tone down the end of the perch so it doesn't draw your eye. Very nicely done Ken.:)

Wonderful shot, the wings show beautiful veination - did you use a polariser? I have recently got a Hoya Digital Polariser but I must confess I think the effect is minimal.

You did very well at thinking through your image, Ken! You're right in that you only missed the very edges of the wingtips and even then I had to go back and look again. ;) I wonder what a little more separation between the BG and the body tones would look like? I pushed the levels white slider to 207 and it brought the grey BG up a bit - you might try it and see what you think.

You were right, Jules. It looks better with the lighter BG.
