Another attempt of mine to capture the grandeur of the African night sky. I wanted to get a swooping view of the spread of the Milky Way here and went for a different composition without the base of the tree which was crowded with grasses and shrubs and would have stolen the attention off the stars.

Instead of painting with a torch this time we fired off fill flash with a diffuser attached to it.

All critique most welcome...

Hey Morkel,
For me, this one is more effective. While I may have preferred a base, I think your choice was correct and you placed the tree very effectively in the frame. The stars look very good also and the milky way matches the form of the tree nicely. This is my favorite of your series!

I think this came out great. I am AOK with the framing of the tree. Nice work.

Hi Morkel, I also agree that this is my favorite of your series. The tree is lit nicely along with a good representation of the milky way.Technically well handled!

Morkel, I think you're getting the hang of it! :D Lovely image of the beautiful African sky which is, of course, very similar to the sky I see here in South Australia most nights. The Southern Hemisphere sky is the most wonderful, so full of stars.
