Probably the most entertaining songbird of the marshy habitats. Lots of fun to photograph with its peek-a-boo behaviour among the reeds, but its' very vocal lifestyle makes it somewhat easy to locate. The Ottawa River is at histrically low water levels so wading deeper into the marsh with waders is an option to get to these guys. Audio used to make it pop up form within the thick stuff...but a specific perch is tough to get it onto...just gotta hope it chooses an open one:)

Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/2000s., f/6.3, ISO 400, +0.3 EC, natural light, handheld, about 75% full frame.

looks very good, balanced comp and nice details. How come the end of the broken twig is blurred at the edge of the frame? Was there some oof stuff in front of it or did you blur manually?

nice work.

Hey Arash, thanks! That broken twig is dissapearing behind an OOF FG reed that was just creeping into the frame. I thought it looked pretty cool but I can see how it can also be a head scratcher:).

Great colour, sympathetic BG, but you have to feel for the little fellow with those legs outstretched. :)

Cool pose, I like the sharpness, setting and light. If anything, a bit more eye contact would have been nice but I like it as is.

Love the image design, the soft colors, and the two-footed hold onto the reeds pose.

I like it very much, the look back is very nice, great comp with the reeds.
If I had to change anything I would get rid of that little piece of broken reed
above and right to the bird. Love the color composition here.

Dan great pose sharp details and nice over the shoulder look.

Sorry I missed you yesterday morning. As you know I found your blind but hadn't realised that you had gone out into the marsh. I would had joined you as we had been there together before when I got my first marsh wren images. Perhaps next time. :D
