The rhesus macaque is the commonest monkey in North India, where they can be found in most cities, often threatening women and children carrying food! They live in large groups headed by an alpha male, and guard their territories against other groups in a vicious manner.
Species: Rhesus monkey (Macaca mulatta)
Location: Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, Rajasthan, India
Date: Nov 2008
Equip: Canon 1D Mlll, Canon 100-400 at 220
Specs: ISO 500, f7.1, 1/200s, hand-held

Thank you for taking the time out to look, and for your comments/critiques

Very nice grouping with good eye contact. The mother in the middle looks to be a little more saturated than the other two but she may just have been that colour. Shame that the hand is cropped but that baby is priceless.

Hard to imagine that they can be vicious, looking at this group.

Harshad, you will need to get that driver to stop more!!
