Canon 7D, Canon 300mmf2.8is lens, handheld from a vehicle. Speed 1/1250s, f4.0, iso400. Not cropped. Colour corrected, sharpened in ACR5.6. Overcast conditions, after rain. The lioness had gone to fetch this cub and two others and was bringing them to a feed. They had just crossed some marshy areas and the cubs started to run as they reached this drier grass. Any c and c appreciated. Location was Duba Plains, Okavango Delta, Botswana. 05 March 2010. 11h28 in the morning.
cheers

Like the intent stare of mom. Don't like the cub looking in another direction, not at mom, not at camera. Do you have another shot a second later? (Or copy and paste cub on other side of mom?? :) ?? )
Tom
ps - would love to get to Duba Plains camp someday

I quite like the differing poses and gaze directions here Grant. Is mom blind in one eye? Good POV you shot from

Grant, the differing views of the lions doesn't worry me, it has a natural feel to it … babies being babies, they never focus where their mum's want them to! :) I like the depth of field, if I had one criticism it would be the large plant and light oof patch right in front of the lioness, unfortunate. Really like the flies swarming around the lioness's ear and her tongue. She does look slightly battle weary.

I think it would be a more natural line of view if the baby was pointing in toward the mom but as presented works for me. It shows the playfulness of the young with the serious business of life on the African plains side by side.

Mom looks really focussed, and just love the playful posture of the cub. Comp works fine.

I like it. The little one is priceless. Sharpest focus here seems to be on the cub. The tall plant and the o-o-f vegetation in front of momma are what bug me, not the position of the animals.

Really nice image Grant. I like the contrasting serious expression of the mother compared with the playful inquisitive look of the cubs.
