While photographing the overwintering Hermit Thrush there is also a small flock of Common Redpolls feeding on the niger seeds that don't seem to mind the presence of a camera lens. This female was more than willing to pose for a few seconds.

Canon Rebel XT + 100-400L @330mm, 1/320s., f/7.1, ISO400, fill flash set at FEC -1 to neutralize backlit situation, 90% full frame, handheld.

Beautiful job on this. I like the hazy branches in the background. Did you use the camera's built in flash?

Great comp on this Dan and sharp eye. Beautiful ight as well.

Hi Gary, thanks for the comment. I use an external flash for my images - an older Canon 420EX that shall soon be replaced by a 580EX:) ...but It has done an admirable and adequate job.

Very nice redpoll capture, Daniel! I have photographed these birds many times in front of my house, but have never gotten an image as good as this. Great work.

Dan lovely sharp image. It was nice to see these fellows and the thrush today. Thanks for letting me accompany you.
