A bit of crop and NR and an annoying branch cloned out in CS4

Hi Ian - angle a little steep for my tastes - did you run NR on the whole image?? Seems to be a bit of a lack of fine feather detail, has that smooth look in places.
Some cloning artifacts above the centre branch.
Good looking bird :)

Thanks, Lance. I see what you mean about the feather detail. I think I did NR the whole thing and will go back and try to leave the bird out and see what happens.

Wow, I'm learning a lot here!

Hi Ian What are you using for noise reduction? Some programs will sap detail !!! Agree with suggestions and might as well get rid of the one branch by the beak !!!

Al, I'm using Noiseware Pro, but not very good with it. I agree that I overdid it. In fact, PP is still a major weakness of mine :) I'm at work tonight, so further playing will have to wait! I like your suggestion to get rid of that branch too.

Hi Ian, very good advice given above.Removal of the branch by the beak should help the image considerably. The image is a bit soft and am wondering whether its due to bird movement or a focusing issue...

Good advices given above. Did you use f/14? maybe a smaller opening for lower ISO, which will help with noise. Love how you manage to get both feel and tail visible, not easy when there are lots of branches around. The bird looks kind of too center, since this is a crop, more room on the right side would be nice.

Thanks for your advice, everyone. Its much appreciated. I'll go back to the original and see what I can salvage.
