Another image from the Masai Mara Jan this year. This approaching storm ended up being ferocious and dumped a lot of rain on us in our open Landcruiser!! This lioness had come through our camp and we followed her on to the plains. I have run a Niksilver FX antique filter over the original, reduced the opacity to bring up a slight touch of the underlying colour. I've tried to recreate an old feel to the image and to emphasise the coming storms. To make the lioness more visible I used the dodge tool at 72%.
Original specs
40D; EF 24-85mm @ 24mm; F4.5; 1/500; ISO200

What do you think? Any C&C welcome … thanks.

Hi Hilary, I feel you accomplished an interesting and dramatic image. I like your choice of crop and the well lit lioness' placement. The lioness, while small, gives a sense of place which is an added element. The sepia tone gives a nice feel to the image along with the angry clouds. The rain squall in the distance is an added plus. Nicely done!!

Hi Hilary, this looks superb...well done, especially with getting the lioness into the right place at the right time, not always so easy. I think it was worth getting drenched for!

Thank you Grant, moving those predators into position is quite tricky as you know! :D

Hi Hilary,
Still on tour but now I have faster internet.....can't add much except another very nicely done! The conversion adds so much to the drama and it was very nicely handled!
