This morning I went back to photograph a Common Moorhen, which was not more cooperative than the other day. In the mean time I photographed Blackbirds as the male chased some female birds around, in the background is the pond.

Axel:

Nice full down stroke pose here. Looks a bit hump backed like a loon ( I think I have loons on my mind:)
Nicely exposed for the epaulet. I really like the tiny bit of the far epaulet showing, pulls the eye back to the head/eye as you tour the image.

Cheers

Axel, I think you've outdone yourself on this one. Perfectly executed (as we've come to expect from you) and totally beautiful. Details in the blacks, the eye is great.

Axel, Nice flight pose and details. The head looks nice and sharp. I do wish for a bit more sharpness on the front wing. I like the way you cropped it.

Techs covered above. This is just an awesome image! I really like the catchlight in the eye and the detail in the wing and body. Looks to be a spot-on exposure.

Very nice one Axel.
HA could not be better, nice details on wings and clean BG. I wish you better luck with the moorhen!

Having an image like this to bring back home to edit would make me forget about the Moorhens!! Good stuff Axel.....

Thanks, Willem! I tried to figure out their flight patterns and went to a spot I thought might work best if they fly around. It's not guaranteed to work but makes it more likely.

Fantastic image Axel. I know that this species is really common to you but it looks so exostic to me that I can not be tired of watching images of the RWBB. in this one I like the timing, dark sky, light angle, wing position and the outstanding colored red epaulettes. Reds are spoted on in my monitor and the details of the blacks are killer. Very well done
