From Costa Rica: The Tiger-Heron's plumage is so intricate and really appeals to me. C&C encouraged and greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking! (maybe needs some off the top?)

Yes, i'd chop a bit off the top if it was mine.
Lovely shot Katie, great detail throughout and a sweet BG.

This heron really pops against a soft BG. Excellent eye contact, plumage detail. I agree that a little off the top would improve this wonderful portrait.

I like the light, angle, sharpness and BG but would crop it tighter.

Beautiful bird. I like Axel's tighter crop. I really enjoy the plumage details here, background is nice, and the tighter crop highlights the strong shape of the neck and head.

Superb and detailed portrait. I would warm the color temperature just a bit :)

Hi Katie. Very good sharpness considering your shutter speed and your shooting location. I shot this wide open and at ISO 640 to go for more shutter speed, but I like your choices better in this instance. I also like the head angle you captured. I do prefer Axel's crop and I agree with Juan's suggestion to warm up the color temp a bit.

Thank you all, I agree with the suggestions for improving this image which is one I want to feature in my portfolio.

Killer bird, sharp, and a nice crop by Axel. The only thing that bugs me a bit is the dirt on the bill.
