These little birds are found deep in the flowers along with the hummingbirds and very seldom are seen out in the open. On a previous trip to Panama I saw these little birds and found them to be quite a challenge to capture in good light and out in the open. This time they cooperated for a moment !!! This was actually taken in Arenal, Costa Rica and unfortunately the volcano was not visible that day due to the cloud cover but the banaquit came to my rescue.

Nice shot Judy, sounds like a tough species to shoot.
Love the lush tropical colours, the bird lends itself to these settings nicely.
Wish the head was a bit sharper though.

Beautiful composition with habitat, Judy. Love the purple flowers and green understory - great color combination. Great detail in the feet although the head looks a little soft. TFS!

Hi Judy, I recognize these little purple flowers from my time Costa Rica! As above, I like the bright colors and congratulate you on finding this little guy...head issue already noted.

This nice looking bird helped you with the composaition by positioning itself to right beside the flowers. Great shot, Judy Lynn.
