Roman and I ran a Macro workshop at Longwood Gardens yesterday. It was a lot of fun. This was one of the tulips that I liked from the afternoon session. What attracted me to the image was the unusual color and the way the tulip filled with light almost like a lantern.:)

Okay, Denise...this is spooky...I made almost the exact same image about a week ago! I like the subdued color palette - it really brings a fresh approach to the flower.

Hi Denise, I really like the lines and angle of view plus the luminance of the petals.

You and Roman have been posting some great shots from your workshop, but knowing you guys are handholding these is really depressing me :D Really inspiring.

Denise - I think I am going to buy a yearly pass to Longwood Gardens after the workshop yesterday. It really opened my eyes that I can do this stuff. You and Roman did a great job together.

Thank you all for your kind comments. The workshop was a lot of fun. And the tulips were fantastic.

Steve, It was a pleasure to meet you and your friend Mark. You both have a good eye for composition. I'm glad you enjoyed the workshop. You are soooo lucky to live close to the Gardens. Keep me posted about those Kestrels and if you see anything else interesting. I would love to shoot with you both again.:)

I love the detail/texture showing in the stem. Beautiful image, Denise! I flew to the E. coast last Thurs and right now I'm in Kennett Square. I'll be shooting in LWG for 2.5 days. I won't know how to act with all the flowers!

Real nice job with this one Denise. LWGs is pretty amazing! I love the angle and the light on this flower, no matter how many of these types of images we see each one has a unique color and texture. Nice choice of subject.

Denise- that is stunning!

I was there on Saturday and came home with... 318 tulip shots! It's the first time I was there in time to catch the displays, I always seem to miss them by a week or so.

Claudia, Thank you so much for your kind words. I am glad to hear that you got over there in time to see the fantastic displays. I love shooting tulips so it was a dream day for me. Roman and I will be back there on the 14th of August for another Macro workshop. Hope to see you there.:)

Very nice! I like the "lantern" look to the light. Lovely composition. I also like that the bg color is the same as the flower.
