I was driving back to our camp in the Kruger, when I came across this troop of baboons in the road. The sun was low, and looking directly into the sun, I changed my WB to cloudy, thus giving me a different feel to the image. I then darkened the surrounding BG, and have come away with this.

Hi Stuart
have to say I am not a huge fan of nature/wildlife images with subjects on roads , the light looks gorgeous but not enough separation between subjects to make an interesting image..

Beautiful light. Roads sometimes are just something we have to deal with, in this case I have to agree with Peter. A different setting and it would no doubt work. TFS

Agree with Peter & Todd here, would also like to see just a touch of shadow detail in the front two.
I do like your line of thinking still Stuart.;)

Agree basically with above. The sharp tail coming in/out the left side distracts and confuses me. I guess it belongs to the baboon looking at me/or away?
BTW, we love Kruger, been there 3 times, last time Sep of 2009.

Nice light and a good thought to capture the light like this.
The composition is the weak point of the image in my opinion. Subjects are not totally seperated from each and donīt add to each other. Especially the little one who is half hiding behind the main subject.
The main subject is looking at the camera but I canīt the eye. Would have been better if the main subject was either looking away or to a side, and that the little wasnīt in the frame.
And the road...well, itīs Kruger, canīt do much about it.

Thanks a stack for your feedback Egil. I have another one, same backlight, more separation, and different interaction. But the road is still there. :( Cheers.
