The Verreauxs' Eagle is Africa's equivalent of the Golden Eagle. It is a mountainous species, and incredibly graceful in the air. This bird is one a pair that breeds within the suburbs of Johannesburg, Amazingly they have been able to breed successful every year for more than a decade, despite the ever closer approach of urban sprawl. They have also become very tame, allowing for great photographic opportunities:)

Great pose, BG and eye contact. This might work as a vertical crop, too. I like it as is, though.

Really nice looking bird. Selective sharpening will get rid of the halo around the bird.

I would personally prefer more room above, but what a graceful photograph!

Hi Chris!
I think the red / green background is gorgeous, and really makes the dark Eagle really pop out. I really enjoy looking at this one!

Oh man, I love this species. This photograph is SUPERB, very nice BG, great pose, eye contact, sweet light, balanced composition and well processed.

Or possibly a bit less room below. Otherwise stunning as noted above.
