One of the evenings at the Farm we had glorious clouds. The had been cloudy, which allowed for more time to photograph and at the last minute, after sunset, there was a clearing at the West, letting the color reflect on the clouds in the East. Steel eye partially concealed. Full frame.

Very cool Fabs...great technique with the background and flash (looks like a studio backdrop (or red velvet cake...) My first thought is it would look great with big yellow early '70's monster-movie type "Night of the Killer Wood Stork!!")

You are on a creative roll aren't you! Generally I don't get too excited about bird in the sky shots but this one certainly changes that thinking. I gotta ask something about the flash setting Fabs. I was wondering about using 0 comp for a white bird in ETTL and overexposure, but obviously that was not a problem here. But is that how you shoot these guys and other white birds?-at zero?

I remember shooting with Al one year like this at the farm but we never had this kind of sky! But great fun..

Amazing plum-colored sky. Flash perfect, EXP right on with loverly underwing detail. Amazing sharpness at 1/300 sec. I only wish for a bit more detail in the head and face--always a challenge with this species.

Outstanding image with amazing colors Fabs. Exposure and sharpness look great. As Artie mentioned, a little more form the face would be nice if you can pull it out. TFS
