Back from the Alligator Farm, where we had a few days with a private student. As usual, plenty of opportunities, with nice weather to boot.
Great Egret displaying, captured through a bush next to the railing. For those of you nor familiar with the display, the ankles and legs are folded, so no need for virtual feet.

Model: Canon EOS-1D Mark IV
Lens (mm): 340 (100-400L IS)
ISO: 2500
Aperture: 5.6
Shutter: 1/400

Love it Fabs Sure like the veil created by shooting through the vegetation. Also like the clearly visible and sharp eye with the slight head turn, one of my favorites from the trip !!

That blurred foreground is the perfect natural frame for the pose. You have such a unique and beautiful way of seeing things.

Oh Fabiola, you know I have grown so used to seeing an artistic image from you that I always say a "Oh yeah" when you post and I see the thumbnail with your name. This one is so terrific how you took advantage of the lines--totally has my eyes moving around. Striking contrast of tone and color to set off the bird. So very creative and innovative--you just keep impressing me more all the time!

Very interesting capture of the breeding habits. I like the green window adds alot of interest to the image.
Did you blur any of the foreground and backgroud in PP? (I like it, just interested)

Dave, the Fg and BG greens and are out of focus vegetation in front of the camera, very close to the lens.

Thanks everyone!

Lovely mood Fabs, and I like how the egret is framed around the FG vegetation. Good work on the exposure too. Congrats on a fine image.

A dreamy image. It would look fantastic as a big print!

Wow, no disrespect to Arthur Morris, but I can see this on the cover of a book. Excellent work. The oof foreground adds a bit of mystique to the bird. My only wish would be to have a bit more around around the splayed feathers (you know, for framing).
