I caught this Cattle Egret on a fly-by of the boardwalk at Gatorland late Saturday afternoon.

Model: Canon EOS 50D
Lens (mm): Canon 70-200 at 183
ISO: 400
Aperture: 6.3
Shutter: 1/800
Program: Manual

Noise reduction via Noiseware Pro. I applied Darken/lighten Center and Tonal Contrast filters from Nik S/W Color Efex Pro. Some cropping. The photo is about 80% original size.

Comments appreciated.

I like the white bird against the very dark BKGR with a good EXP. And the head turned back toward you makes the image. The face could stand a bit of sharpening.

Sharpened the bird and then the head again a bit more. Lightened the mid-tones. :)

I really like the shot, the repost looks better. The wings look gorgeous.

sweet BG and great exposure, the repost is much better in terms of sharpness just a bit of motion blur left in the feet. well done, TFS

Very nice image, Jim, the repost improves it. If this were mine, I'd darken the green parts of the BG so they don't stand out so much from the black.

wonderful contrast and pose - Artie's repost has added the adjustments I would make as well
