this was a tough day of shooting! waves reak havoc with AF on a camera and there were plenty this day! keeper count goes down, big time!!

D300, 50-500 at 500mm, f/8, 1/2500s, ISO 640, manual exp.

thanks for looking. comments and critiques much appreciated.

Hi Harold The waves were tough but they sure make for a different bg !! You got a keeper !!!

Like the sharpness and eye contact. Obviously too bad about the lower mandible being obscured.

Great one H. I've never been able to get one with such a clear eye.
Congrats

Nice moment in nature action shot. Panning technique looks solid - TFS.

Like the wing position, exposure, and composition. The lower mandible tip would put this over the top.
Very nicely done
Cheers

Hi Harold - looking good!! - Bet you wished that bottom wave wasn't there - like the pose - good sharp clear eye and sweet light.

Hi Harold, the lighting was great and as stated you have a good view of the eye. Good detail and wing position!
Agree about the lower mandible but it's a keeper in my book...
