I thought about cropping out more of the post, but decided to leave it for now. A little more light on the tail would have been nice.

Jim
The bill still seems a tad soft....especially in comparison with that bright eye. I wonder if there was some motion blur or if the point of focus was on the front wing and there wasn't enough DOF to render a sharp bill. The pose is really nice and I like the colors in the blurred BG. Next time ask him if he could move a little more to get the light all the way on him......who knows...he might accommodate your wish.

Thanks everyone. The bill was pretty soft in the original, thus the selective sharpening early in the process. Then I went and "cleaned" the bill a little because it had some junk on it which probably didn't help.

I think the light is just enough Jim.....it keeps the mood(if there is one)
If it were a tad smoother at the rear of the bill, the white part, then the bill would not appear quite as soft.

The image does have a mood though, I like it

Alittle more body turn would of lite the gull up but I like the pose captured Jim..
