Conoptus oberi

Shot at the northern base of Gros Piton. Endemic to St. Lucia- great place for birds AND a vacation:)

Fantastic bird and composition, maybe a bit too warm, red channel must be clipped.
I like the careful placing of the stick out of the frame and the strong diagonal this creates.

Ditto Fab's comments. Love the warm lighting , pose and detail you captured in this image.

Agree with Fabs. Might try placing the bird slightly to our right, if I were playing around with crops. You might have already tried this. I would also burn the bright areas in the perch. Nicely done.

Awesome light, and sweet looking bird. I agree a bit off the right would work. Although not bad as is, a head angle a few degrees more towards us would have been perfect. I'd explore burning the very lightest spot below the bill. I love the eye and BG!

Thanks, all. I will look into cooling down the reds, and more crops as well. It's funny you mention the perch being bright, I'd already cloned even BRIGHTER spots from right under the subjects feet, but I agree a more evenly lit branch would be less distracting.

Thanks for the input:)
