I was watching a piece of this movie tonight, went to my computer, and quite coincidentally processed this image from our Kalahari trip last year. If you've ever seen the movie you will know why the title is apt :)

We came across this large male lion feeding on a kill late one afternoon in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. If he hadn't moved his head in the long grass we would have driven by.

I love the "hidden hunter" feel here, with the eyes partly visible even with the sun shining from behind the subject, giving that eerie feeling that he's watching you from the shadows...like a man-eater...

All comments welcome.

Before reading your note I thought you had got a Brown Hyena.;)

Not to sure about this as I find it hard to see as a Lion, but just goes to show how they can hide so well.

Sorry Morkel, doesn't really work for me, just a little too 'abstract' or me.;)

The grass distracts. But I'd agree very aptly titled. ;)

Morkel,

I guess none of the people here have seen the movie. Works very well in that context. Just like it in fact. You can just imagine wading through this grass not knowing that death lurks inches away.

thanks for the - as usual - varied opinions everyone...I'm afraid I tend to be more "abstract" in my view of photography than most :)
