The Bluebonnet is the State Flower of Texas. Trying out my Canon 7D with a Canon 17-40 mm f/4 lens. Looks like a good combination.
F7.1, 1/640, ISO 320, -0.67, handheld using AEB.

Beautiful Louis! Two suggestions...I'd check the blues in the histogram and see if they aren't a tad oversaturated. I'd also look at toning down the bright spot in the ULC if possible.
What time of day did you take this? Looks like you have a beautiful BG but some harsher shadows on the plant itself.

A lovely state flower! Beautiful blues. I'm wondering how this would look as a vertical, since the stem is long, and with a slightly wider open f stop, to blur BG even more. Look forward to more images. :)

A beautiful flower very well captured. I like the tight composition and the DOF. I might darken the BG a bit. The blue seems a little bit too saturated.

Hey Louis,
Very similar to the Lupines of Maine! Agree with the above recommendations as far as saturation and BG.....not the easiest subject to get a pleasing comp with.
