This was the first and list time I will/got obsessed about photographing an animal, even to the point of distraction.

I have always said, 'Never get obsessed, go with the flow', however I spent four days tracking and photographing these guys and it wasn't until the last night, just before he light went down did I get what I wanted. There is a pride of lions at Chiefs that for once acted as a family, even the male allowing the youngsters to eat with him, inches away. An impressive sight and great bonding by the whole family. This was just one of the shots. Mum is in the background as he watched his brothers play just in front of him.

Wonderful for you Steve that your vision came true. This is a beautiful image, I love the rich colorful eyes, the great texture in the fur and most of all the restful pose. Congratulations, a very special image.

Steve, Fantastic low angle and lighting. The warm colors really bring you into the image. Lovely:)

What a sweet shot! I would be inclined to wipe out the background. With the full-size image, it would take awhile to restore
all the fuzzy hairs around the edges, but I think it would be worth the trouble. Beautiful image.

I love the original image, Steve. You have brought out the sweet, innocent, cuddly look perfectly. I would like to see the image with the male and the cubs sharing a meal together.

Nice light, I like the pensive mood !

Thanks everyone.

David I see where you are coming from, however it would firstly take it out of context, plus it would not be true to the original. Personally I think this is perhaps where things stray too far from the original. In other situations this maybe 'acceptable', however for me it is too far removed, but I appreciate the thought & work behind it and it does have merit. Many thanks

I'm with David here the removal of "mum" in the background would make this far better.

The colours look a little too saturated to me.

Very nice indeed Steve, Great eye colouring.

I have a vision of you hanging out of the vehicle arms full length trying to get the camera as low to the ground as possible.

You have achieved a great intimate connection with the subject.

Happy Easter.

Excellent work on the repost, but I too prefer the original. TFS.
