This Is Our Morning

Speaking softly, sighing, knowing,
Understanding overflowing
In my ear sweet words you utter
While the candles softly flutter

Your gentle touch, my hands in yours
Opens up those unseen doors
Of sharing dreams and painful scars,
Embracing underneath the stars

I want you so, my love divine
For when we kiss, our hearts align.
And when you said you’d take that chance
You bade my simple heart to dance

I look ahead, on down the road
And see our picturesque abode
A garden bathed in morning dew
Budding life, fresh and new

Come to me, I’ll take your hand
We’ll walk across this fertile land
I want to share my life with you
For when we dream, it all comes true

Understanding, feeling, showing
Each day for you my love is growing

If she didn't say yes - I WILL!!! :D:):D Whew...that was...whew! ;)

That second stanza slung an arrow right through my heart. Brilliantly put, Hank.

Hank. HANK. Who knew someone named HANK could write like that? It was delicious!

I'm off to go slap a little cold water on my face...

Thanks! I wrote that one for my wife (and yes, she DID say yes). I felt the flower petal detail fit the spirit of the poem. Thanks very much for reading....

First I need to stop howling about Jules' reply. LMAO. Getting back up off the floor now.

So evocative, Hank. Your words paint beautiful pictures. The rhymes are terrific and so natural. Rather than focus attention on themselves, they enhance the message. Not an easy thing to do, and you do it so gracefully.

Wonderful piece of art, Hank.
